Despacito was a track from the year 2017 released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It became the top popular streamed song in the world within 6 months. Mixing Reggaeton and pop was released in the year 2017 by singer from Puerto Rico Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. The song was the top-streamed song at the period within a span of six months. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish mostly, and four in the year 2016. However, during the heights of Despacito's fame in the year 2017 there were 19 mainly Spanish tracks that made the top 100. In 2020, there were 41. In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix of Despacito (2017) famous musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton musicians, such as Drake and Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna and Maluma for Medellin (2019). In the year 2020, a handful of reggaeton performers were lamenting their genre's shift towards the mainstream. However, a younger generation namely Rauw Alejandro was determined to continue the evolution of reggaeton. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music, and different styles was an accepted practice.
