Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry kids who would grow together eventually, learned very young how to overcome of difficulties through her vibrant and vivid imagination. Her songs were written before she was able to read or write. At the age of 8years old, she purchased the first electric guitar she owned and started singing at an Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. That same year she made her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. While still in highschool She made her mark in the local community, yet she yearned for an even bigger stage. After graduating from high school in 1964 she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first record to chart at the top of Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer for his show that was syndicated from the beginning.
